who are we?
Queen Bee Collective is a Sydney-based vinyl DJ collective celebrating female and gender-diverse talent.
For the last six years, we’ve held monthly vinyl sessions at The Hive Bar in Erskineville, DJed and curated events, and thrown some legendary warehouse parties. Our collective is made up of passionate selectors, collectors, and DJs, all united by a shared love of vinyl.
Our repertoire? It’s deep and incredibly diverse — spanning soul, funk, Latin, reggae, dub, disco, rhythm and blues, afrobeat, hip-hop, and a wide range of electronic genres including house, dubstep, electronica, and techno.
Since launching in 2018, Queen Bee has grown into Australia’s largest female and gender-diverse DJ collective, with over 20 active members. You’ll find us playing everywhere — from radio stations and local bars to clubs, warehouse parties, and festivals.
We’ve curated stages for Australian Fashion Week, hosted sold-out warehouse raves, and broadcast shows on 2SER, Orbital, and Eastside Radio.
Our queens are all working DJs, either as a side hustle or their main gig. Many of our members have had long-standing careers across radio, film, and the music industry. We’ve curated DJ booths as a collective for a wide range of venues and events including the Porterhouse Hotel, Rekōdo, Dulwich Hill Festival, and Jurassic Lounge. Our members bring a wide range of ages, musical styles, and energies to the table, with one collective goal — to bring the vibe.
Our collective is built on values of equal opportunity, inclusion, social justice, friendship, and an unwavering love of music and the medium of vinyl. We’re also big believers in mentoring the next generation of DJs and creating space for new talent.
We are passionate about inclusion and equality and want to see gender balance across music venues, events, and lineups.
We believe deeply in the power of shared music experiences, and in making DJing inclusive and welcoming for all.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, and community. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
