Who is this Sydney Vinyl DJ?

Milky Tea [she/her] is a vinyl collector and selector with a crate that spans soul, funk, Latin, afro, reggae, and bass-heavy sounds from around the world. Her sets are known for jumping across decades, genres, and time zones - always keeping the vibe fresh.

Over the past 5 years, she has been digging deeper into reggae and sound system culture, blending dancehall, digi-reggae, dub, dubstep, and bass music - bringing heavy basslines and global rhythms together in her own style. Her ever-evolving collection reflects a curiosity for new sounds and a love of sharing music that brings people together on the dancefloor.

Deeply immersed in sound system culture, and with a love for the underground party scenes of the mid-90’s to the present, she is drawn to the power of music to unite communities and move souls.

Her love for a good sound system has seen her spin records on some of the heaviest rigs around, and she channels the energy of the crowd with every set. She’s played records with El Gran Mono Pico at Sound on Sound for VIVID and shook things up with Prion Audio at Realm Riparia in 2022. In 2023, she linked up with Submerge System for Forward Ever, a multi-rig celebration of Sound System culture in Naarm/Melbourne. In 2024, she returned to Realm Riparia with Prion Audio, brought the heat on the ForeignDub sound at Chinese Laundry for Full Spin, and tore up the stage with Inner West Reggae Disco Machine at Dayshift, Mode Festival, and Sub Unity.

She is a founding member of Queen Bee DJ’s, a Sydney based women’s vinyl collective. She is a resident at Queens Hotel (ENMORE), The Hive Bar (ERSKINEVILLE) and Rekodo Vinyl Bar (Barangaroo).

  • "For me, DJ’ing is about sharing the music I love, creating connections on the dancefloor, and moving through the moment together. My love for music is not for a genre, style or scene"
