Sani has made an indelible mark on the club, bar, private party and soul scene in Sydney, creating an irresistibly smooth impression wherever she performs. ivy Pool's original resident Friday DJ for over five years - She currently plays across the Merivale spectrum of venues. Some favourites include: Palmer & Co, The Paddington, Coogee Pavilion, Mumu, and of course Jam. Some other recent highlights include working for the Maybe Group venues: Maybe Sammy (No #1 in the World’s Top 500) and Dean and Nancy on 22 (No 1 Best Cocktail Bar / Hotel Bar of the Year). As well as Bobbies (No 1 Best Bar in Australia / Dante Group - Worlds Best Bar). To see her spinning vinyl, pop into Rekodo / Tucanos / Kitty Hawk New York; or dancing at Caterpillar Club after hours. Sani specialises in soul music. This includes a life long love of disco and all things super groovy. She has been taught by Sydney's old school DJs, learning the craft the traditional way, surrounded by records, sound systems and a touch of la dolce vita. She still collects self indulgent soul records to showcase on special occasions, as well as playing off digital set ups at Sydney's contemporary venues. This has developed into a successful career as one of Sydney's most sought after DJs. Sani can cater to all scenarios. It you are after sophisticated, stylish and sensual soul, chic lounge, or soulful funk with a twist of disco, to create an intimate atmosphere - Sani is the DJ to contact. If it's sweating it out on the dance floor, she has you covered - throwing in all your favourite party jams and jukebox classics. Sani is diverse in genres, reflecting her deep knowledge and passion for music. So the sound system could also include a touch of Afro, Latin rhythms, rare grooves, reggae, world beats, Cuban, swing, jazz, rnb, hip hop, modern and northern soul, some deep house or classic funk, nu disco, cosmic boogie - and of course, da school party classics. Incorporating contemporary reedits and remixes to take you on a journey, tapping into the heart and soul of a crowd. If it's a particular theme, something classic, unusual, or different - the list of options is infinite - to create something special for your unique event. Sani is also a member of the collectives: Soul of Sydney / Back to Funk / Queen Bees. She has more than a decade of experience as a presenter on Radio (Bondi 88fm / 2SER / FBI) and has served as a music director for various projects, including inflight radio for Jetstar Airlines, podcasts for iTunes, Creative production for Petrol Records and Music Mann. Such involvements have led to associations and creative collaborations with many of Sydney's high profile musicians, producers and DJs, as well as international performers including DJ Kool Herc, Norman Jay, Gilles Peterson and Qbert, to name just a few. So on the flip side, she also works as a DJ agent, working with clients to book full-tilt funky multiple DJ line-ups for parties that can go from sunset to sunrise. Sani has spent her life immersed in the music industry, so as a DJ or creative consultant, she can cater to your musical needs and create something special for your unique event.
